yep....rusted junk......ugly to boot! i think i prefer the streamlined emd, alco and baldwin diesels for passenger train service....much cleaner lines.
Just think of it, Someone got payed run that"stuff"!!!! :o
don't you DARE make fun of that it's the turbo train it still holds the canadian railway speed record and OBVIOUSLY it looks bad it is rusded and the amtrack sheme it the ugliest one ever used on the turbotrain
here's another ugly one here's a coincadance it's amtrack!
Never heard of Amtrack Andy Could you explain? Do you mean Amtrak? ;)
I happen to like the VIA scheme, it would like nice on Ontario Northland stuff too!
ohhh...but i do DARE to make fun of it...ugly thing.....all the hyper fast ''bullet'' trains are ugly and uninteresting to me. that thing looks like a boat with wheels!!
and is rusded a word? if so...what does it mean? ;D
never mind the spelling as long as i get my point across.
oh well i guess i can't change anybody's opinion but, i tried! ;)
andy u might want to look at this

look at this little suprise i found on my layout
I just posted the first pic I saw on google. I didn't know it caused so much argument.
Yeah, Amtrak is horrible. I like VIA a lot better. Does anyone make a model of the LRC?
rapido does hard to get one because it's a special model and is not mass produced
here's the link:

Cool, is Rapido Trains a Canadian firm? They made a lot of Canadian stuff.
rapido is 100% canadian owned although their products are made in chine but hey is'nt everything! ;D ;D ;D
And another that needs a bit of buffing up:
I don't think this was particularly high speed, but it would make an interesting model.
it is ashame how people mistreat locomotives who have made a small part of shaping this country
The CN/Amtrak units were built by United Aircraft and were gas-turbine powered. I got to ride in one on the B&O from DC to Oakland, MD back in the early '70's. Not a great rider, as I recall, though that probably had as much to do with Chessie's track maintenance as with the unit. They ran several sets on the Hartford-Boston run pre-electrification. Amtrak had a different type of turbo unit on the NYC - Albany run as well.
Well according to RAPIDO web site, UA designed the train and Pullman-Standard built it on the US side and MLW built it for Canada.
Also the UA Turbo bread and butter service was Grand Central Terminal to South Station.
Boston to Hartford? Well maybe not the UA Turbo set.

if that is a pioner zephyr a museum hasn't found it because i know a museum would love have one of those zephyrs
Dr EMD is indeed correct. It is Russian. I found it on this website.

They also had this "Russian RS-1"
