Started the roof on this a couple days ago. Looks like a lumber stble.

Any suggestions, I was thinking weathered gray, with a little brown, not oxide red, but burnt orange brown under the eaves...

I can do that, Bob.  PM me....

I think Private Message ( PM ) is broken....

Email would work.

Try this Bob,

Engineerkyle@yahoo.com

I only have one station available right now Guilford Guy, and here is the only shot I could find of it;

I freelance, but sometimes scratch-build from sketches and/or photos, and kitbash, too. I'll also do a "Stock" kit.

Gene, I can do a school...

Please email me at the above addy with some specifics, size, sketches and photos,  signage and other details and I'll shoot you back a drawing of my interpretation of your project with a quote. If you agree, I'll take a payment of 1/3 up front.... another 1/3 when it's roughed in and the final payment apon completion. Once that is received, I'll sign and date the piece, take a couple of photos of it for the Internet, and ship it priority mail.

Build 'em like you want to. Offering custom signage is only going to make your life miserable.

Agreed

ooh ooh... leave it plain, winning bidder gets free signage/details of his design/choice that come separate with a little tube of glue. That would be a lot more fussin' on my part. Hmmmm ?

semi-commission?

Will it lose value as I don't get to add the gestalt?

or.. you buy a nice painting, Winslow Homer doesn't tell you where to hang it!

I'll see how the next two weeks go. Big post-Easter auction.

They look good! How much do you expect them to sell for?

ooh what a question... The end of the auction always seems to have some surprises. A few times the price of a model (that was not really a favorite of mine) really skyrocketed. I was only disappointed twice. I've sold 32 items and counting.

PM me if interested.

I would like to poll the group regarded how personal I should build my structures that I intend to offer. What I mean is this. Should I leave off all the signs that put the piece in a particular time or place, letting the winning bidder finish it off? I didn't used to. I almost can't leave the final details off. Thats the fun part, and yet, a customer made that very suggestion.

Advice?

I am curious as why you would offer such a masterpiece on Ebay?  Have you set a minimum bid?

I was searching for custom built log cabins in HO, and I got estimates ranging from $250 to $500 each.   Super detailing a locomotive earns about the same price.

A craftsman has to be paid his worth.  People tell me I can't expect to recoup my time and effort, but if I don't realize at least $25 an hour it's not worth it.  Hope no one "steals it" for a cheap price.

Just my philosophy, good luck.

Bob

Thanks Bob,

I got 68 bucks for it. I expected it to go for somewhere between 50-100. I've seen plenty of similar or worse items listed on eBay with a high minimum bid or reserve price. If I recall, those didn't sell at all. Also, eBay nickel and dimes you for those extras. Finally, setting a low opening bid seems to whip up a bit of an auction frenzy, and bidding wars have benefited me greatly on a couple of past items.

I think as my work gets out there, the prices will continue to rise.

I know I'd be nowhere without the help and support from the guys here and on other forums.

Thanks.

Thanks Sid,

I've got another batch of pieces, and, with your rules and Jim's suggestion, I'm going world-wide.

I was also wonder if you all think the artist will fetch more if one piece at a time is listed "Exclusively" or a whole variety/quantity is auctioned from week to week?

Thanks,

Kyle

Hi JIM!

Maybe I should.... It was suggested to me that overseas shipping is an expensive hassle. Anyone care to expound or dispute that?

I don't think this forum has any rules about advertising.  Wounded Bear thinks this post is kosher, if not, the mods here can delete it immediately with my apologies.

Hi Kyle
As usual, outstanding craftsmanship.  I may hire you to build my ranch theme.

What did you use for the siding and roof? If it's Evergreen, would appreciate the part numbers.  Most of my buildings will be lap/clapboard and metal roofs.

It was worth waiting for (oh my aching dialup) LOL

Bob

Thanks....

Not evergreen, just some stuff I had laying around. Tell us more about your plans, or message me.
