HO / Re: HO Bachmann Spectrum 2 truck Climax

I've had the same issue, only my motor quit as well!  I have three of the twp truck Climax and Two of them run great!  Bachmann will replae the Climax with a three truck Climax.  They do not have many if any parts for the two truck Climax.  Call them to make sure.  The three truck is a great little Climax though.  Stephen

Is the wiring from the tender to the locomotive in a bind?  That will also cause the tender to "float " its front truck.  Stephen

railroadfun,
yes, you can create consist without the Por Box.  Stephen

Are you running it DC on a DCC track?  It might be the motor hum.  If it's more than just the hum, is the drive shaft at an angle that appears to be excessive?  Stephen

You have several options here.  Without knowing more info on your loco, I would check with Joe DeLia at A-line/Proto Power West for either motor and flywheels or just the flywheels!  Alliance Locomotive in Ohio also has some outstanding motors and flywheels.  The have the Helix Humper!  But keep in mind that the gearing may need changed as well for it to pull well.  The flywheels help considerable.  I have seen much improvement just putting on flywheels on the Bachmann motor.  It is a very good can motor!  Hope that helps some.  Stephen

Fred,  I did the same thing but I didn't buy the units for collecting.  The cheapeast way I've found is to buy (at a discount) a DCC Bachmann unit that matched the trucks with yours and simple replaced the body shell on the DCC unit!  By the way, once you have switched to the DCC unit and a powered B unit you will be pleasantly surprised at how much improved the pulling power is.  You might want to also consider replacing the couplers as well, on all of the rolling stock.  I now have a twenty car train along with four powered F7 units.  I got a very unigue set that runs really well!  Hope that helps,  Stephen

Also be carefull when you put it back together.  The wipers for these are touchy and need to be replaced exactley as you take them apart.  Hope that will help a bit.  Stephen

I think I have the picture now.  The older Plus had the horizontal split frame.  If the wheels turn when power is applied, che close to see if the trucks set flat of the track.  Sometimes they will bind at an angle under the frame.  Have you have the frame apart?  Stephen

What is the make and model of the loco?  I assume it ran well in the break in period?  Have you taken the body shell off yet to see if it has any obstructions inside?  Check the pickups in or on the trucks.  Have you applied power to the wheels themselves?  Lets us know what you have so we can get the picture as it were.  Stephen

HO / Re: GS4 wheels came off!

I had the same problem with a GS4.  Mine was very old as well (20+ years).  I had to purchase several "parts" locos and do the repairs myself.  It will be cheaper to purchase the current standard version or its equivelent.  You wil need to make sure the primary drive axle is on the same axle as yours and the frame is the same.  There are several different styles and types.  Stephen

HO / Re: power feeds on HO Steel track

If you are only doubling the amout of track you get with the set, you should have plenty of power in your power pack.  Hope that helps,  Stephen

Your English is fine.  First, the locomotive you are using, I do not believe that it has a smoke generator in it.  Use a small flashlight and check inside the smoke stack.  You should see a fairly large cavity for the smoke generator.  It should also have a stem with a wire coil around it.  If you can't see anything like that then the locomotive does not make smoke.  Second, be sure your track is assembled correctly.  It is very easy to misalign your rails.. They need to be together as close as possible and even across the rail at the joint.  If your track is OK then make sure the pilot truck/wheels have a small spring under them.  This is used to keep tension against the rails.  If the spring is there then I would try a small amount of weight on top of the truck to help hold it against the rail.  Hope this helps.  Stephen
