General Discussion / When to add more power
March 20, 2024, 11:00:39 AM
As stated in an earlier post I asked about adding more power.  So what I'm really looking for is with a EZ command controller Plus, how much track and how many turn outs can I use?  I believe the EZ command provided only one amp.  I have a 6X10 set up with four turn outs, two Double Cross Overs, outer main loop and an inner loop with a rail yard.    It doesn't seem the cross overs are getting enough power.  They are in the rear farthest away from the terminal track.  one switches and the other seem to only switch halfway. seems like it's starving for more power.
The EZ command power five amp booster is very expensive and I'm considering switching to the Digitrax Zephyr DCC Controller.  It has 3 amps and allows for a jumper controller that my grandson can use.  The EZ command Controller Plus did away with that option.  Is the Zephyr a good choice? I know this is a Bachmann site, but I'm sure people use other devices other than Bachmann.

General Discussion / Adding More Power
March 19, 2024, 06:04:30 PM
I am building a 6x10 layout with multiple turn outs and a lot of track.  I have one terminal track.  How do I know if I have enough power to energize the Whole track?   I bought a left and right cross over that I put in the back and they are not operating properly.  I was wondering if they don't have enough power.  Can I add another terminal in the back and run a wire from the front terminal to the back?   I sort of new, so I'm not that smart yet.  I am using EZ track and a EZ track DCC plus controller.

I am new to running HO trains and I'm building a 6X10 Layout that has six turnouts.  I have DCC Decoders that will control the turnouts with my EZ command plus or by pushing the button on the decoder.  The issue is I can't see the turnouts in the back to know what position it is in.  I see a lot of videos on Red/Green signal lights that can be installed next to the turnout. But all these videos are not made for DCC controlled turnouts.  Is there a way I can set up these signals?  Sometimes I will rather push the DCC decoder button to make the switch instead of using the sequence of 9+function then the assigned number.  I cannot control the speed of the train when in this function.
I will appreciate any assistance.   Please respond in simple terms since I am new to this.

I purchased the DCC Digital Commander set along with a Thomas and Friends Set. The Thomas and Friends is DC.  I seen on older youtube videos where you can use an interconnector cable to connect your DC controller to the EZ Command.  The EZ command had an additional port in the back for the inter connector cable.  Seems like an excellent Idea.  The new EZ command plus has not port in the back.  Its my understanding that running a DC train on with the EZ command you can only run the DC train by itself, but with the DC controller hooked up with it with the interconnector cable you can run both the DC and DCC trains.  So how do I do this with the EZ Command Plus?
