Another nice book on the OR&W is "Hidden Treasures - The Story of the Ohio River & Western Railway" by Edward H. Cass.

On30 / Mr. Bachmann: concerning billboard reefers
January 04, 2008, 04:52:13 PM
If one were "anticipating" new billboard reefers in '08 (brewery or other industries) is it likely such anticipation would be rewarded?

Thank you.

Received my copy here in Delaware today.

I tend to feel the same way as TOF. Not sure if I'm more inspired to get started or depressed knowing my talents come no where near that of the contributors!

I just checked mine and both the box and the car ( the gon) are dated 2004.

The set does include a power pack/speed controller.

The catalog makes no mention of sound or smoke so I think those features are not offered.

I think it MIGHT be from 2001.

I have one and it has a marking "blt 12-01"

I believe the '04 car was a gondola.

I'm pretty sure that - to the dismay of many of us - there was no new car in '06.

Another possibility for a youngster - especially if price is a consideration  - is Ready Made toys (readymadetoys.com).

I only have one of their "Beeps" so have limited experience with them but read many favorable comments on an O gauge related website.

I received mine today and they are, indeed, quite nice.

Ordered through John Weigel.

Thank you Nelson.

Don't know how I missed that on my first look!

On30 / "Rileys Run" railroad photos?
December 01, 2007, 08:29:20 AM
In reply to a question I posted in the Plasticville section Mr. Bachmann referred to the "Rileys Run" RR which, IIRC, was an On30 layout.

I'm trying to locate pictures of that project and went through the photo gallery but to no avail.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find those photos?

Thank you.

Paul:

Appreciate the reply.

Somewhat hard to define just what I meant but I'm thinking in the steam era homes and other structures near tracks would get somewhat grimy but I also think most owners had pride in their buildings and would do what they could to keep them attractive. I would want to avoid the appearance that the buildings had been neglected while trying to convey they were subjected to some deterioration from soot and such...does that make sense??

My modeling skills are, shall we say, "limited".  :-[
Would using "Dullcote" or a similar product somewhat lessen the toylike appearance of Plasticville buildings or does that make them look too dingy?

Thank you.

Interesting work.

I always enjoy visiting that website.

Do you have a larger size layout also?

On30 / New for 2007 brewery reefers available?
November 15, 2007, 04:38:46 PM
I've been unable to determine if the brewery reefers scheduled for release in 2007 are now available.

Is there any updated information or scheduled arrival date?

Thank you.
