Title: Unrecognized doc loco
Post by: Dusterdave on August 27, 2018, 01:29:34 PM
I have an early Shay locomotive that has been converted to DCC. I have no knowledge of its history. I can not get my controller to recognize it. There is a switch labeled inc and dec on the bunker. Any suggestions?

Welcome.
Scale of loco? Sounds like maybe large scale.
Photo?
You might get an answer and not have to post a photo but if you ever want to post a photo, you need to use a photo hosting site.

Yes it is large scale. I'm not sure what decoder but it is a Prodigy2 controller.
Thanks Dave

Well, since no answer so far, two things you can do, one is a Google search for Bachmann shay dcc switch. That will bring up results. It did for me. Looks like you have a three truck Shay. You did not say. More info can help.

Second. Did you try a decoder reset. CV8, enter 8. Cycle track power. Headlight should flash sixteen times I believe. Loco should run on address 3. Any issues I have had, I usually did a decoder reset.
The only system that cannot do a reset is the Bachmann EZ Command.
My old MRC2K could not but those are vary rare anymore.
