On30 / New 0n30 steam locos?
April 13, 2024, 07:01:24 PM
I was in a discussion about new steam locos in 0n30 scale. I wonder if Bachmann have any plans or intentions to release any new locomotives. The Spectrum range are such great locos and there is a need for new ones. Another run of 2-8-0's would be best sellers for sure.  :D
With the best of care they wear out eventually. My Forney is ancient, but still goes, and the big ten wheeler is no youngster either.
I hope Bachmann are planning to continue with 0n30. The loss of Spectrum locos would be a blow.

On30 / Little Yarra 2-4-0 tender loco.

I put this on the 'wish list" thread a while ago, and no doubt it's been said before, but I want to see Bachmann bring out a 2-4-0 tender locomotive, based on the Little Yarra locomotive that Baldwin built in 1912 for the Powelltown tramway in Australia.

It's pretty much a 2-4-4 Forney cut off and a 6 wheel tender added. Must be do-able?

I bring it up again, because a company here in Australia is in the production stage of a release of a brass and white metal kit of that very locomotive. It will be very desirable and very expensive! I expressed my interest  :D

If Bachmann genuinely intend to continue to support 0N30 with RTR locomotives, they might do very well to consider it.

just a thought?  ;D

I read that the Bachmann 'lifetime warranty' only applies to locomotives purchased in the USA and Canada.
I am in Australia. I have two 0n30 steam locos, never had a problem with either, but wonder why Bachmann don't like Aussies?

And strange to tell, today I had to pop the roof off a coach when one of the windows in an end door fell off inside the car.
I gently squeezed the sides while putting my thumb nail between the side and roof. Et voila!, as the French never say. off it came. Tiny bit of CA adhesive on the window, put it back on, and then gently clicked the roof back on.
Notice the operative word is 'gently'?

Yep, just stick your thumb nails under the edge of the roof on the corners, and GENTLY find the place where the tabs let go.
Easy.  :D
Try to avoid using screwdrivers etc. You will break something.

I also think a 2-4-0 tender loco, with a 6 wheel tender like the 'Little Yarra' of the Poweltown tramway in Australia would be great. And, how hard could it be? Bachmann 2-4-4 Forney, cut off and fitted with a tender with a bogie and two pedestal wheels at the front. I would imagine Bachmann still have the tooling?

Quote from: John Tumolo on October 20, 2023, 06:19:32 PMOk, gang-I've been asking for YEARS and I shall continue to do so-we truly need a Maine-style Prairie.  With all of the HO mechanisms available to Bachmann, it shouldn't be that difficult.  A model of WW&F's #6 would be ideal, but there are a bunch of different ones that ran on the SR&RL that would do.
I am new on here, so hello!. I am in Australia, and 0n30 is not such a big thing here.
I totally agree, a Maine style prairie, that would be something. Or, a model of the narrow gauge N class 2-6-2 of the New Zealand railways from the late 19th century. Very cool!
And more assorted box cars and passenger cars would be nice.
I still have a 2-4-4 Forney, and yes, it needs big wide curves, but it is such a sweet looking smooth running little thing. I would buy another. I do hope Bachmann stay committed to 0n30.
