well, i remember talking to a friend i met from youtube down by the Ex. NPR. he was saying about teaching his brother the difference from a Gp40 and Gp40-2. i was confused. He pronounced that unit GP40 dash 2. i pronounce it GP42 when i mean GP40-2. am i doing something wrong or is this common?
I normally say the "dash" just for the sake of not confusing others
It's gee-pee forty dash two. There are few external difference between a GP40 and a GP40-2, notably the battery boxes and water sight glass, however internally, much of the electrical was consolidated and redone, since, the more technology going into the locomotives, the more wiring needed, and a larger mess it became.
OK, thx.
it is dash 2, the same with ge's dash 7, 9, and 9s.....
