Title: 0-4-0 Davenport DCC Sound Installation
Post by: On30Youngster on October 25, 2018, 01:20:07 PM
Hello,

I've recently bought a DCC-Ready Davenport model and runs like a charm. I'm wondering if there's a DCC sound decoder that would fit the V1 PCB board in the model or would it be worth installing the decoder straight to the motor and pickups?

I appreciate all feedback.

Thank you!

A guy in my club installed sound in his Davenport, so I know it can be done.

SoundTraxx has a page advising which decoder, speaker, and baffle to use, I've used that particular decoder and it doesn't slot into a socket, it just has wires:  https://www.soundtraxx.com/choose/step1.php?s=O-Bachmann

Bachmann also has a page saying how to get to the board and which color wires do what here:

It looks like your model has 'dummy plugs' that route power to the light and motor for analog control, you can remove those and probably solder the decoder to those connectors.

Thanks Flare, I'll certainly give that a try.
