Williams by Bachmann / Re: NJ Transit Equipment

Additional NJ Transit equipment which could be easily modeled with existing Williams products are the Budd RDC and GE P40, also known as the Genesis.  Several former Amtrak P40 units were recently added to NJT's roster in anticipation of planned limited stop service between New York Penn Station and Atlantic City.

A number of years ago, Williams issued its GP38 and E60 decorated for NJ Transit.

NJT requires manufacturers to enter into a licensing agreement for products bearing its image.  There was apparently a problem between Williams and NJT regarding this arrangement as neither item was reissued.  Subsequently, both locomotives are limited in number and very much in demand.  If I recall correctly, Bachmann has released its HO F40PH decorated for NJT so I am hopeful the company has a current agreement in place with NJT.

The Williams product line is well suited to modeling NJ Transit.  The U33C can be painted to represent the U34CH.  The F3 would serve as an accurate representation of NJT's four ex-C&NW F7's.  The GP38 is a reasonable representation of the various classes of passenger equipped GP40 variants.  The GP9 model would serve as a nice reproduction of the former CNJ GP7's.  Lastly, the E60 can again be issued to represent the ex-AMTK locomotives aquired to replace the GG1's.

One additional possibility would be to use to the combination of the GP38 and FP45 tooling to recreate NJT's interesting GP40FH-2 units although I'm uncertain if this could be accomplished from a manufacturing perspective.  Below is a link to a photograph of one of these interesting beasts:

A model of that would certainly be an attention grabber on a layout!

The New York Metropolitan area, NJ Transit's operating territory, holds a large base of railroad hobbyists and I'm quite confident the demand exists for a selection of NJT equipment.

Thanks again for the opportunity to post.

Earle

Williams by Bachmann / Amtrak HHP8

Hi, Bach Man.

Since exquisite models of Amtrak's HHP8 are offered in HO and N scale, I respectfully request Bachmann give consideration to this locomotive as the first newly tooled piece of motive power to be added to the former Williams product line.

Thanks for the forum.

Earle
