Title: Funeral Train Project Progress
Post by: BaltoOhioRRfan on May 09, 2010, 11:46:22 AM
WEll i'm back to work on my fallen pups funeral train. The locomotive was finished several months ago. (mostly) and i just got the coaches and what not for the rest.

The train features a
1 Spectrum 4-4-0
1 Con-Cor Bagage
2 Bachmann Open Sided Excursion cars w/seats
2 Con-Cor Coaches

only thing missing on the loco is black bunting(tissue paper idea didn't work. going to womens clothing for option 2.......black tights it seems more flexiable

all cars will have interioros
1 of these will be converted into a coffin car....featuring a coffin

still some painting to do(mind you that these are hand painted with no masking!) and of course the decals
for car names I only have 2 so far

Coffin Car 123 "Fetch" the car number being her date of death, FEtch being her favorite game.

Open Air car TBA "Ball" since her favorite toy was a tennis ball and will be on a flat car as a part of the train when i can get another 34 flat to include on the train(to be painted up)

Looks great!  I wish I had the talents to do that for my Dalmation that we had to put down a couple of summers ago because he had cancer in his left cheekbone.  Can't wait to see the finished model! :)

See if you can find a pair of black hose or panty hose.  That might have the draping qualities you need and ought to be sufficiently opaque since it won't be stretched and there will be no light behind it.

thats pretty much what I'm using, just i think tights are more durable as they are thicker from what I was told. (just incase they get snagged on something in the box etc, they wont be ripped)

heres the casket car so far with striping in place, lettering in place and the F-E-T in fetch in place. NOTE i still have a few applicants of Micro SOL to apply on the decals so they look painted on.

Nice looking paint job. Are you airbrushing or still using artists brushes?

paint brush, only way to do. cant use maskin tap on the old time coaches, it runs down between planks.

Yes i know! i missed a spot!

Casket car nearing completion,

I numbered it 123 because she was put to sleep back on January 23rd. (1/23)

Its not completely done interior wise. I still need to paint the insides, paint the weight(as the seats wont be put back in) and i need to find something to make flower arrengments out of(or buy them already made!) to also put on the weight around the casket. Also will be a serman and some mourners which i have the serman and one mourner.

Also in the background is the is my Lincoln Funeral car

B&O-

I think it's Noch who has HO flowers which are very well done.  I've seen mourners, too, but I can't recall if they are from Preiser or Woodland Scenics.  I think Preiser..

What is a "serman?"

You mean a clergyman (preacher, minister, rabbi, priest)? I've seen clergy figures by several manufacturers. I think Preiser even sells "Mourners at a Funeral."

Sarahs train as of 5/27/2010 and her urn. Consists so far of her Locomotive, #7 "Sarah" A temporary flat car with her ball on it(i want to get another one to paint up just for her) Open Air Casket Car 123 "Fetch" and Coach/Observation car 2002 "Kiss Her For Me". Still to come is a second open air car named Tug of War and a 2nd coach named Together Again, a song that reminds me of her.

123 Open Air Casket car(featuring a casket, preacher and two mourners for now more to come) "Fetch" I named it fetch becuase she loved to play fetch.

Coach/Observation 2002 "Kiss Her For Me" which is a title of a song that reminds me of her.
