Hi all.  Well, I am sure this question isn't anything new, but is new to me.  I have two Bachmann DCC Diesels, and intend to run them back to back.  Don't have a DCC controller yet, as I am buying so much different stuff right now (mostly Bachmann and Prewar Lionel), so will run them for a short time with straight DC. 

My question here is, after I get both running one direction, will they both run evenly, or is there any risk of one trying to run faster than the other?  I just don't want to see any smoke from new locomotives.

Hi all.  I know this is an unusual question, but I have to ask.

Being as I am just getting into all types of model trains (less expensive models and types) after many years, I have decided that until I get my temporary layout set up soon, I won't be ready for DCC, and so I am wondering if anyone on here knows how to disable the DCC.

I want to to this for awhile mainly because I have a few other DC locos that I want to run that I would like to temporarily disable this one.

Seems like I say something somewhere that said you had to take out some components and put in a jumper.  Could be way off.

Would appreciate whatever help I can get.

Hi all.  I am new here.  I have a question about a recently purchased DCC Sante Fe loco. 

First off, can anyone tell me the proper controller for this engine?

Secondly, can this engine be run on regular DC until I get a controller.  If so, what do I have to switch to run it on regular DC?

I am totally new to DCC, but decided if I was going to buy a new diesel, might as well buy the newest technology.  Hope my decision was the right one.

Lastly, does Bachmann make a dummy to hook to the above diesel to make up a pair for pulling passenger cars or freight cars?

I know, a ton of questions.

I'd appreciate any help here.

Hi all.  First post on here. 

I, like many dads, received a few presents over the weekend.  My youngest son, like my other sons and daughters (all grown), knows that I like older stuff.  Old autos, old Nascar stuff, etc.  Well, yesterday, he and his wife came to the house with an HO train set to give me, and they were excited that they found it at a decent price.  Whatever the price was, my granddaughter said it was a lot.  Unfortunately, when I pulled the steam locomotive (smoker) out of the box, it was broken.  By that I mean one of the pushrod guides was broken off, the rear hook for the tender is missing, and the back and middle set of wheels fell off.  Looks like there is a plastic piece that the axles on the middle and rear wheels push into to keep the wheels on.  From what I can tell, that center plastic piece on both rear and middle axles is cracked, and that is probably why the wheels won't stay on.

I don't want to let my son know he sort of got taken.  However, this part is hard to figure.  The caboose, all the boxcars, and the tender look like they haven't ever been run.  I mean like brand new.  The sign set and the Police Station are still sealed.  Everything looks perfect except for the loco. 

Anyone else on here have that set and maybe had that wheel problem?  Are chassis parts still available for this engine?  It was manufactured in 1998. 

I know this isn't made with the wheelbarrow technology of the old metal trains, but I would like to salvage it if I can, so my son and his wife can see it run, and not know that it was broken.  I have a feeling they bought it at a garage sale or flea market.  Set is perfect and complete, but just a slightly messed up loco.

Any help will be appreciated.
