Title: Speed Controller Problems
Post by: gminfla on January 04, 2010, 07:11:22 PM
I just set up a new Bachmann N scale Explorer (BAC24008) train set and it was working fine until this evening.....less than 2 VDC at the track with the controller turned up to the max...I suspect it's the speed controller. Do you suggest I try to get another one from Bachmann or upgrade to another model/make? Thanks.

If you get a better power pack you can get one with two throttles for multiple train running, and gauges for volts and amps. How many amps is the Bachmann power pack rated at?

Well, after further testing I have determined it's not the power pack but the turnouts. They are drawing most of the voltage from the track when switched straight. Thanks anyways.

Sounds like a short of some sort from your turnout, or what not.
