A few days ago, someone posted photos of a kitbash showing how they converted a Bachmann kettle, the 4-6-0(?), from slide valves to the more modern piston valves.
I've trawled through a bunch of topics but cannot find it.
Anyone recall what the topic was named or can the OP please repost?
I have three or four 4-6-0s I want to modernise and the kitbashing of the valves seems easier than trying to replace the cylinder castings with new ones.
Thanks.

I don't think that I've posted it on the Bachmann forum, but you can view it here:

Wayne.
Thanks for the link. Exactly what I needed.
I plan on keeping the Bachmann boiler and replacing sandbox and steam dome and adding or kitbashing a new cab.
I thought it was Bachmann and not Big Blue.

Thanks for supplying the information.
Looking at converting 1 of my OF 2-8-0s to Piston Valves, just to be a bit different from the
rest of the engines.

The ex "Spectrum" 2-8-0 is piston valved. Or was there another Bachmann 2-8-0?
Cheers

Sorry about the confusion, the engine in question is 2FT 6In aka On30.
Will also be using the tips to bulk up a set of Piston Valve cylinders on a Mantua
HO 2-8-2 which is undergoing a rebuild and should result in an 2Ft 6In gauge
Henschel which operates on the Esquel line in Argentina.

Roger;
This site, go to "Parts, service...). There are about a dozen or so steam-chest, cylinders, rod linkage, valves-all done in the usual high standards. Speaking as one [who] would have no problems doing so, why not just take a look at what is available. This is one of the best places I know of to find what you are looking for.
