I went to a couple of yard (junk) sales yesterday and here's what I found:

a pile of 42 Model Railroader mags from the 40s and 50s, all in good shape, I bought them all (of coarse) for $30 (apx $.72 each) I love looking through these things, but it's funny seeing articles about prototype steam locos that say what they ARE used for, instead of what they WERE used for.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have an Atlas wiring book, circa 1971, which I skim through now and then. It's interesting seeing things like cab control and reverse-loop wiring. How great it is to be living in the DCC era.

I have emailed bachman service twice with no response.

Don't E-mail Bachmann. I have never heard a good story about Bachmann E-Mail. Calling is considerably more reliable. The number is available under the 'Service/Parts' link at the top of the screen.

As recently as the 1970's, Indiana required all freight trains of seventy or more cars to have a fireman. It cost Penn Central alone $22 million a year to comply. With their three different time zones, one wonders whether or not the Indiana legislature lost count of the years and thought PC was opperating K4's.

Let's see...
An E40, E44, P5a, E60, ALP-46; actulaly, just about any electric would be nice. Except for the GG-1, no one ever seems to make electrics for more than a few years...
Other than electrics, a Baldwin Centipede would be nice (I'm not sure if it would sell, but still...).

Of course, as long as they get the Conrail paint scheme done right...

General Discussion / Re: Parts sheet online?

Strange- I've always gotten excellent service. Perhaps it's simply the time of year, or the people in charge, or some other variable. Or maybe they simply treat HO modelers better.

On the topic, I bet Bachmann would make a lot of money on a proper parts department. I know I would buy as many E-33 and Acela pantographs as I could afford, they are constantly breaking. Another reason to make an E-44 ;D, more broken pantographs they could make money off of.

The fact is, Amtrak does not care whether or not its Amfleets match, so you could mix anything from phase IV on (You could even throw in a phase III car, they can still be seen ocasionally). If you are putting in a baggage car, it can be almost anything(except 1700 series, they are always IV).

For the number and type of cars, on the northeast corridor, almost anything goes (Within reason, no 8 cafes and and a Superliner). A standard Regional tends to have 6-8 coaches and 1-2 cafes, but almost any variation is possible.
