Just ordered a Berk 2-8-4 NKP version painted-unlettered today to add to my fleet.

Anything I need to know about these.

Good runner?

Inherent problems?

Good puller?

Ease of maintenance?

Anyone know if the tender is punched for a speaker?  In the parts section, the tender frames look like they
might be already punched.  You can just see what looks like a round piece for the speaker under the weight.
Maybe the BACH-MAN might know and will chime in on this.

Your thoughts!!!

HO / 2-8-0 tenders and sound
June 07, 2011, 09:22:51 PM
I have a Bachmann 2-8-0 DCC equipped and would like to add sound to it and am inqiuring as to which tenders from other locos might be the same as the one which comes with the 2-8-0, hopefully finding a tender frame maybe from another loco in the parts section that is pre-punched for a speaker that will fit under the tender from the 2-8-0.

None are available in the 2-8-0 parts section pre-punched for a speaker.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, I don't want to place a speaker under the coal load, so don't even suggest it.

Thanks much.

HO / 2-10-0 dissassembly help
May 27, 2011, 01:05:06 PM
Hi guy's, I need some help/info/directions for taking apart my decapod.  I need to clean/lube the motor, bearings and gears.
Need to take driver chassis assembly off and remove the boiler/cab assembly. What is the easiest way to do this?

Have looked at other posts that say I have to remove the walkways from the boiler to remove the boiler assembly, but looks like they are glued on, and I'm afraid that I might damage them.

Any tricks or easier way to remove the boiler assembly?

What about the driver/chassis assembly? Will it come off complete with the cylinders and valve gear?

What screws do I remove to do all of this?

Exploded drawing really is not too clear as to which screws go thru which parts into the other parts to hold the assemblys together.

Any help will be appreciated on this as I have never taken apart any steam locos before.
