Good to see another New Haven "gone but not forgotten" guy on the forum. I grew up in Pelham, New York on the electrified section one stop before New Rochelle. We need more electric power units! Jim Mueller jrmueller@embarqmail.com
The biggest mistake ever made by any railroad was when the New Haven started stupidly cutting the "motor" roster. Some of the most powerful, economical-from a start-up standpoint to the maintenence one-forms of motive power were units like the EF3, EP1,2,3,4,and 5. When the New Haven acquired the "bricks" from the Virginian in the late fifties, it was a smart move. Too bad [they] didn't follow up with more instead of idiocy.
