Large / Repaint Request (Rio Grande 4-6-0)
April 25, 2016, 12:25:12 PM
Mr. Bach Man,
Sure would like to see some repaints of the 'Annie' 4-6-0 locomotive. Painted in the same schemes as the C-19 2-8-0's for Rio Grande would be most appreciated (Flying Grande and Moffit Tunnel heralds). These locomotives are CLOSE in size to the C-19 and would be excellent candidates for new paint. The new paint schemes would appeal to 1:22 and 1:20 scale modelers. I know new products are announced at the NMRA Convention, so put us on the request list and paint up some Rio Grande locos!

Sad news indeed! You will be missed (by me anyway).

Mr. Bach Man,
Bachmann is not listed as a vendor/exhibitor on the 2016 National Garden Railroad Convention website. Any plans to attend? I always enjoy seeing the Bachmann large scale products on display.

Chuck,
I love what Stan did with the Delton Doozie Goose! Thanks for sharing the photos. Would love to see more.

Rusty,
Also check out the new for 2016 products from **B as they have two new paint scheme passenger cars in the maroon for the Durango & Silverton coming, with a hint of more to come. As stated above, these cars mix and match well with the Bachmann cars and locos. Bachmann should take notice, people do still want D & S and D&RGW equipment!

Mylocosound least expensive, Phoenix most expensive. Both good, but you do get what you pay for sometimes. Dallee is another option.

Ran,
No plug-n-play for the 4-6-0 that I know of. There are several companies that make sound systems that will wire into the tender or with pick up from wheels through the track power. Mylocosound, Phoenix, and QSI are just a few.

Large / Re: C class engines on the D&RGW
December 24, 2015, 08:07:30 AM
From Jeff Johnson's C-19 Locomotive History:
"To the casual observer, the distinguishing attribute that set the Class 70 locomotive apart from the class 60 2-8-0 was its slightly longer boiler. Further inspection would reveal the slight increase in the boiler shell and driving piston diameters as well as five additional inches on the driver wheelbase. These upgrades netted the locomotive a few thousand more pounds of weight over the drivers. The design differences were just enough to allow the Class 70 engines to haul an extra 10 or 12 tons over the steepest of the mountain passes. "

In our scale, these would be very minor differences. The difference would be about like comparing an 'Annie' with the C-19.

Don,
Super job combining those model locos and tenders. Makes the loco look totally different and GREAT! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Loco Bill and Yardmaster.

Loco Bill,
At a fairly recent National Convention, I spoke with a well know Bachmann rep that approves the paint schemes on the large scale products. When I asked for a 'Flying Grande' paint scheme on the 4-6-0, he insisted that it had already been done. I have been using Bachmann 4-6-0's for a long while and have never encountered that scheme. Anyway, my question is has this paint scheme ever been used on a large scale 4-6-0? If not, then my request to Bachmann is to produce one (very similar to the White Pass or Rio Grande Southern painting with proper Rio Grande lettering). With the Cumbres & Toltec restoring a 4-6-0, it could prove very popular. An while I'm at it, they should likewise do the Moffit Tunnel herald with spelled out words down the tender, just like the 2-8-0. The repaints could yield more sales without a tremendous cost investment (no real new tooling of parts). Thanks for answers and for considering my repaint request.

Large / Re: Need new track
October 18, 2015, 07:10:31 AM
Nana123,
Look on back of foam container. Track is placed there most of the time. Yes, you may use any brand of g-scale track. Bachmann's set track is a hollow pressed metal and will not hold up outside. Bachmann makes a brass track that will work indoors or outdoors, as will most other brands of track.

Large / QSI Titan Q2-FX, C-19, and Lenz question
September 20, 2015, 02:14:49 PM
Friends,
I three Bachmann C-19s with the QSI board installed. I am using the Lenz set 100. I can 'program on the main' some features. Two such features are STV and MAX. I can not read the decoder as Lenz system suggest. Anyway, my question is this. What is the value that should be entered into these two settings to make them all perform similar and possible do a double header? As the run now, all three start and run  at different speeds on the same throttle number. So again, what value are you putting in for these two to get good smooth performance and realistic speed.
