Joe, These are some more that I came up with as variations to JDD's design. I think I even got your opposing side in. ;)

Wow, Morgan.
Crankin' the designs out.
Thanks for all your good work.
The two right layouts have only one "S" curve each, which can be eliminated.
It is hard to couple/uncouple on a curve, so the useful portion of a spur is its straight length.
Your upper spur has 3 straights after it turns parallel to the main.
You can get as much straight length off a #5 or #6 turnout if you avoid turning back parallel to the main
and just let it angle down towards the inner loop.
It's possible to get even more length if the spur goes past (grazes) the upper right curves
of the inner loop and heads toward the outer loop.
You would want to make sure there is enough clearance with the 2 loops, though.
Again, thanks.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Joe,
What? Did I make the pics too small? ??? No comment on the facing point spur? :D
I know that I still have a S curve, but I left it because JDD stated that he already glued the riser to the table. I would take it out otherwise.
Morgun
Hi, Morgun.
Well,
it's better to fix "S" curves earlier than later.
Sorry I didn't catch it and make a comment before the construction started.
I did notice your facing point spurs, very imaginative solutions.
Single spurs usually service some kind of business or industry, though.
There is not much room on the left 2 layouts for a building,
though a little more room on the right 2 layouts.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Edit: Added "or industry".
Hi , these look quite interesting , what size layouts are we looking at and what are the E-Z track components?
are the turnouts DCC and is there room for a turntable?
Spencer
morgun,
I think you've come into your own. you've drawn exactly what I described and even improved on it.
Spencer,
The grid squares are 1 ft.
Morgun,
For part of "you should know" information -- Select one of the more elaborate track plans and calculate the total cost of just the track required to build it. Use Bachmann web store (http://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=258_366_367) for price.
Joe, Thanks for help with my "continuing education."
Spencer, I send you a PM
Hunt, good suggestion. My local hobby shop, and I'm guessing most will, gives me a 15% discount on MSRP.
Morgun,
Use Bachmann MSRP price for this exercise. There are places with more than 15% discount.
