HO / CV settings for E-Z Command Two Function Decoder
January 10, 2016, 12:52:16 PM
The technical sheet on the Bachmann website for DCC On Board for the E-Z Command Two Function Decoder, on page 2, has a List of supported CVs as: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 17, 18, and 19 in the first box.

Does this mean that CVs 5 and 6 can not be changed?

HO / Decoder for Bachmann GP40
May 02, 2015, 03:07:07 PM
I have a Bachmann GP40 #63501. It has a factory installed 8-pin plug and want to make it DCC.

I know Bachmann makes a decoder: Model 44915.

I also saw a MRC decoder item # 1834, that seems to take up less space.

Is it best to stay Bachmann to Bachmann or is there some advantage to the smaller MRC decoder?

HO / Re: Switches for Rail yard
February 06, 2015, 05:11:05 PM
These are all great ideas. Thank you all.

I have Anyrail and have tried other track systems with Anyrail and they work better for a close yard.

I read more on yard planning as suggested. More to come.

A friend gave me some old Atlas code 100 Snap Track and switches. They work great and result in a better yard.

Anyrail shows this too.

HO / Switches for Rail yard
February 04, 2015, 09:09:02 PM
I am trying to design/layout a rail yard. So far I have used #6 right and left crossovers off a mainline for an arrival/departure line. I then used left (44461) and right (44462) switches to create a thru yard, but the distance between the tracks is too great.

I tried using #6 switches and using 1/3 and 1/2 of an 18" radius curve, but the tracks are not straight in the yard.

What switch is best to use so the yard is closer together and do I need to use a different radius curve or cut track to make it fit?

HO / Power for Wye Junction
January 12, 2015, 05:16:00 PM
Will I need to isolate any switches on the Wye Junction so there are no shorts and can I use one controller.

Not doing DCC yest, just starting.

Thank you for the fast response.

HO / Wye Junction

I am trying to make a Wye Junction.

Do 3 #5 Wye Turnouts, part 44569, and connecting track have to be used or can other switches be used with one Wye switch and the connecting track?

I made it work using a computer layout program with 3 #5 Wye switches, but it seems to take lots of space and the Wye switches are more expensive.
