Can someone identify the component that is used to provide the blinking lights in the ash pan and firebox of the Bachmann two truck shay? I don't think its an LED but not it doesn't look like a regular bulb either so not sure what it is. Also, how many volts does it take to make it blink?
thanks.
It is a two color LED.

right, but the blinking is caused by a circuit, which is a modified monostable multivibrator if I remember correctly. ;D
The LED does not cause the blinking.

Au contraire,
I purchased these and installed them in a modified Big Hauler. I put a 1k ohm resistor is series of each led and connected, through a switch, directly to 14.4v battery power.
