Large / 3RD GENERATION ENGINE??
May 07, 2012, 08:22:24 AM
Hello Everyone,

I need to get a "3rd generation" engine for a project that I am doing.
I already have the B&O #1332, and I think the Emmett Kelly circus engine is another one.
Need the names of a few others.

Thanks,
Ray

Go on ebay, there are tons of them.

I am going to start off running 2 Bachmann 4-6-0 locomotives with the TCS 1303 (G8) decoders.
I would also like to keep this in the $300-400 dollar range, so I might be looking for something used if the price is right.
Is the NCE system the way to go, or are there others made for G-Scale?

Large / DCC CONTROLLER-AMP BOOSTER-POWER SUPPLY??
April 18, 2012, 07:17:29 AM
Hello Everyone,

What is a good setup of a controller-amp booster-power supply to run multiple trains on DCC?
I just don't think that the 5 amp booster is going to be nearly enough.
Should I go with a 24VDC power supply also?
I want something actually made for G-Scale.

Thanks,
Ray

Large / DCC 4-6-0 TENDER QUESTION??
April 15, 2012, 03:47:11 PM
HELLO EVERYONE,

I installed a TCS G8 decoder in my B&O locomotive.
Do I need to connect the 2-pin wires from the tender?
Do I still need the tender or can the locomotive run with just the decoder?
The problem I am having is when I try to program it with the Bachmann E-Z Command, it clicks a couple of times as if it's receiving the command, but then that's all it does.
I am a dummy when it comes to these decoders, so I hope there is someone out there that can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Ray

Large / Re: WORM- GEAR ON 4-6-0 MOTOR
April 03, 2012, 09:57:07 PM
Hey Barry,

I need two of them.
Let me know how much they are and how to pay you.
Do they just go on one way, and is there an easy way to put them on the shaft?
Let me know.

Thanks,
Ray

Large / WORM- GEAR ON 4-6-0 MOTOR
April 03, 2012, 04:16:53 PM
Hey Everyone,

Does anybody know if Bachmann sells the brass? worm-gear that fits on the 4-6-0 motor shaft??
I am going to buy a couple of high torque motors, and one of the worm-gears I have has a flat spot on one side.
If anyone has a couple of worm-gears for sale, please let me know.

Thanks,
Ray

Large / HIGH TORQUE MOTOR FOR 4-6-0
April 02, 2012, 04:07:07 PM
HEY EVERYONE,

There is a motor upgrade for the 4-6-0 on EBAY for $11.50. Is this a good price or does someone else make one?
It's supposed to be a high torque motor, have a 5 pole armature, heavy duty brushes, and large bearings.
At 12vdc they draw 162mA at 10000 RPM.
Has anyone ever bought one of these motors, are they any good?
The motor is supposed to screw right in.
What about the worm gear? Is it easy to take it off of the shaft, or do you buy a new one?
Need as much feedback as possible so that I don't make a wrong decision.

Large / NEWBIE WITH A "4-6-0 COWCATCHER" QUESTION??
March 28, 2012, 01:42:03 PM
Hello To All,

Not sure what to exactly call it, but it's the plastic piece in the very front down by the track.
It's held on by two screws and has a coupler sticking out in the middle.
Does anyone make a better replacement piece?
Is there a parts break-down for the inside of the locomotive and the tender?
Again it's for the 4-6-0 locomotive.

Thanks,
Ray
