Hello, I am new to the hobby. I purchased a N scale loco,Bachmann 2-6-6-2 item #82652. What decoder does this loco take? I am going to use the Digitrax Zephyr. THANKS

There are several decoders that should work.  Do you want sound?  Look at Digitrax or SoundTraxx.

No sound?  Also look at NCE, Lenz and others.  Most of the decoders manufactures as well as the major DCC hobby shops have lists of which decoder will work with which lcomotive.

In a quick look at the DCC manufactures web sites I did not see a 'Plug and Play' decoder for 2-6-6-2, but all of them have decoders that will work.

What brands of decoders do you have now?  It is easier to work with one brand when it comes to remembering which CV's do what.  Since you use a Digitrax Zepher, if your other decoders are Digitrax, what other functions do you want.  Then choose the one that fits that need.

Give us a little more to work with and we can help you go in the right direction.
