Large / Re: "North Pole" Train Set

Thanks for your reply, Bill. The loco #25 is definitely an Annie - and is clearly marked 25 on each side of the cab. The number plate on the smoke box door sports a 25!! it is definitely not a re-paint and has metal drive/connecting rods and and all of the typical extra piping and metal details (bell, whistle, etc.) that all Annies have. What is very unusual are the factory applied  decorations on the top side of the stack and cab roof - definitely not decals, but printed. The tender has metal railings and a working back-up light. I bought the set in a cardboard carton - no paper-work. The loco appears to have not been run very much. The white gon is very different also - sports red trim as well as a red plastic coupler-lift bar. I will try to post pics tomorrow.
Surely someone out there must have heard of the set!! How about it, Mr. Bachmann?

Large / "North Pole" Train Set
July 21, 2011, 04:41:51 PM
I have an unusual train set. It consists of an Annie loco (#25) with factory applied holiday decorations around the top of the large "balloon" smoke stack the and on the cab roof. The valve gear is the simplified type. The colors are the same as on the Wonderland Flyer loco - red & green. Included is a white gondola with red trim and red caboose with "Merry Christmas" printed on the sides. I do not have the box. Does anyone know when this was produced and how many were made?
Thanks!

Are there any plans to upgrade this loco to the Spectrum level and/or add sound? If no, who provides the best sound system?
Thank you.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams Sound Systems

It turns out the PA set was silent! No sound. The box was mis-marked, or the wrong units were placed in the boxes. The vendor adjusted his price, but now I need to find a sound system that will work. I want horn, bell and motor sounds - would mount the boards/speaker in the B unit. Any suggested vendors?
Thanks!

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams Sound Systems

I may have just answered my own question - I am told the print on the box refers to "True-Sounds" and describes the features as in my above posting. Is this system still offered by Williams - and if so, do they have it on any steam locos?
Thanks for your help.

Williams by Bachmann / Williams Sound Systems
October 02, 2009, 04:17:46 PM
I just ordered a Rio Grande PA ABA set with sound that includes revving motors and crew talk. I have not revceived it yet so am very curious since I have never seen this type of sound system mentioned in any of Williams advertising materials. I notice there is another ABA set (different road name) on eBay with the same sound system description. Did Williams do a limited run of upgraded sound diesels in the past or did someone install an after-market system?
I will report back on how mine sounds after I receive it next week.
Thanks.

Thank you, 3rd rail! Does anyone know if this loco is supposed to have the factory electronic whistle and bell? Or is that dependent on the manufactured date?
Thank you.

When was this loco produced? Does it have sound? If not, could a sound board be added and be powered off the tender tether?
Thanks for your help.

I just saw the sets in stock at two Sam's locations last week - NV and CO. The loco is NOT an Annie - has gold colored plastic valve gear. Actually the set looks nice and should fulfill the needs of someone looking for a Christmas train set just for the fun of having and running. The box is huge - so maybe that's why the shipping charge on the eBay offering is so high.
