This means I'll be able to link pictures I have stored on the "mylargescale.com" site here as well! ;)
Tom

hey! looks like the 250 pixel wide issue has been fixed! ;D
test:
huh..very strange,
so what is different about Tom's picture that keeps it from being resized..
I will try Tom's pic, see if it resizes for me:
weird! ??? ???
Tom's pic does NOT resize when he posted it, but it *does* resize when I posted it!
what is up with that??
one more test:

still testing..dont mind me..
hmmm..I cant figure this out! ??? ???
The IMG tags are exactly the same either way..
I cant find what is different that sometimes makes it resize to 250, and other times does not..
Tom, what did you do to keep your pic from resizing! ;D ;D
Scot
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/msowsun/Trains/IMAG1178a.jpg)
I am having the same problem even when the image was downloaded to my photobucket account.
If you go back and modify the image, you will see that there is a image size added to the link. I just deleted it and now it is full size again.
Very strange. ???

Looks like someone removed the 250 pixel limit! ;D ;D
lets test it out:

woo hoo!
the 250 limit is gone! ;D
thank you to whoever removed it! ;D
now the only potential problem is that if there is no limit, people can post gigantic images which mess up the page...usually done out of honest ignorance about resizing, but I still think there should be a limit..like 640 to 800 or so..
normally I would never post a 900 pixel wide image like I did in the post above..I just did that to test it out! ;)
If no limit is automatically applied, I guess we will just have to try to educate the people that post massive photos...hopefully it wont happen too often.
hmmm..maybe there is a limit set and its larger than 900!
just for the sake of science, im going to post a massive pic just to test the limit, if there is one...normally this shouldnt be done! ;)
please keep pics at 640 to 800 maximum!
lets see..3,518 pixels wide should do it:
*edit*
ah ha! there IS a size limit!
I dont know what it is, its obviously somewhere between 900 and 3,518 pixels..
thats good then!
I wont bother to test it anymore...
thanks for fixing the "250 pixel problem!" ;D ;D

Scott - Just curious as to why the track is raised off the roadbed. Is this on purpose?

hmmm..interesting.
well maybe that works, but its certainly not the best way to do it! ;)
the "250 limit" was actually gone for a brief time this afternoon..photos did post full-size with no editing necessary..then the 250 limit REappeared..so perhaps someone is still tweaking the forum..

the 3,518 pixel wide image is right there after those words!
so im confused.. ??? ???
that map IS the 3,518 pixel wide image, whcih ther forum resied..
the point of posting the huge image was to see if the forum *would* resize it, and it did..
it was resized to 250 pixels wide..
I will try it again:
still being resized..
and I have noticed another quirk over the last 24 hours or so..
some times you can edit, remove the 250 in the [ img] tag, re-save and the photo will appear full-size...other times, you edit to remove the 250, and its automatically put right back!
so some times editing out the 250 works, and other times it doesnt..

David,
click in the little icon above the smileys that looks like this (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/Themes/bachmann/images/bbc/img.gif)
that is the "insert image" icon, it will put the IMG tags into your message,
they will look like this:
Then your photo has to be *hosted* somewhere on the internet..either on your own personal web space, if you have any, or on one of the free photo hosting sites that allow insertion of images into forums..(very few do)
www.photobucket.com is one that does.
the photo cant be on your computer, it has to be uploaded somewhere first.
check with your ISP..lots of people have free hosting from their ISP and dont even know it!
then insert the URL (the "address") of your image between those two tags, like this:
the result is this! ;D
(http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/scottychaos/DH-Eunit.jpg)
the forum still has a problem where it is resizing ALL photos to 250 pixels wide..
hopefully that will be fixed..
meanwhile people are just insertign the actual link to the photo with the [ url] tags insted of the [ img] tags, and saying:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/scottychaos/DH-Eunit.jpg (http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/scottychaos/DH-Eunit.jpg)

Hmmm.....
That's what I tried to do with my Picasa2 hosting site, I now see the pitfall >:(, Picasa doesn't give the image a '.jpg' tag.
So here's another go....

I don't get that option on my PC running IE7

the vast majority of people, who are using Internet Explorer, dont have that option.

Lanny,
this problem has been thoughly discussed farther up this thread and in the "welcome" thread.
the problem isnt imageshack.
this new bachmann forum automatically resizes ANY photo that is wider than 250 pixels down to 250 pixels.
hopefully it can be fixed..it should be a simple matter of finding where in the forum software it says "250" and changing that number to "640"...but it hasnt happened yet..
Scot
I tried to "modify" the post to remove the 250 size restriction, but that doesn't work now either.....
For those stuck with Internet Explorer, you can right click and copy the image, then paste it into clickboard viewer and see it full size. Later versions of Windows have no clipboard viewer? Then use Paint instead. It is an old program that does not support right-click-and-paste but you can still left click on edit, then on paste. It just might be easier to upgrade to Foxfire ...
Incidentally, you can use the same tricks to view the image at the left and the signature image below.
Scot,
Thanks for the explanation ... I guess I didn't read the prior posts carefully enough. You are right. I have most of my photos in Imageshack wider than 250 pixels ... but one or two in are less and they post just fine, full size. But anything wider posts as in thumbnail size.
Thanks for going over that again, Scot. I agree with you ... I hope that can be fixed. Sure doesn't sound like it should be too hard.
Two examples ... the1st (underbody) is a smaller overall size photo than the (2nd) full size end.

Good Morning All,
Here is a pic that I have wanted to share for some time now. It is one of two of my Bachmann 2-8-0s in On30 with Tsunami sound. It is on the timber trestle in the midst of my spiral grade on my On30 railroad. The grade is two loops that gain 12 inches verticle in a 5.5 x 8.5 ft area.

Bob
(http://)img][http://ebtbob.rrpicturearchives.net/pictures/14688/On30%20railroad-4.jpg[/img] a retry.
Bob
Bob,
somehow the brackets of your IMG tags are getting messed up..
First, copy the "address" of your image, which is this:
http://ebtbob.rrhives.net/pictures/14688/On30%20railroad-4.jpg
highlight it, then right-click the mouse and choose "copy"
ThenClick the (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/Themes/bachmann/images/bbc/img.gif) button once, that inserts the IMG tags into the message, like this:
Notice that the cursor is already blinking right in the middle of those tags!
you already copied the address, so now dont touch the mouse, and instead do a "CTRL-V" on the keyboard, (hold down the Ctrl button, and press V at the same time) that will paste the address right between the tags..
it should look like:
notice the brackets of the tags are not changed, only the address has been inserted between them.
the result should be:
Scot
Bob, (and everyone)
another potential problem is that you have blank spaces in your image filenames..blank spaces are bad, and mess up the display on many forums and webpages and such.
dont use:
my On30 locomotive.jpg
as an image filename,
instead use:
myOn30locomotive.jpg
or
my-On30-locomotive.jpg
or
my_On30_locomotive.jpg
only letters, numbers, dashes - or underscores _ should be used in filenames.
no blank spaces, and no weird characters like !@#$^&*()=+
the blank space is probably why your photo doesnt show when you click this link:
http://ebtbob.rrhives.net/pictures/14688/On30%20railroad-4.jpg
the blank space got converted to %20, which can mess things up.
Scot
Scot,
Thankyou for your advice. Now I know it is not me as what you said to do was what I did on the first try. I went to my gallery at www.rrpicturearchives.net and opened the picture. Then I right clicked on it and clicked on properties. I highlighted the url and copied it. Then I came back to this forum. Came to this thread, clicked on the icon and hit paste. Why it did not work is beyond me as I was able to post a picture earlier in the day.
Bob
Scot,
I was just able to post a picture in the thread about your favorite engine, why and post a pic. After hitting the icon to post the pic I right clicked to paste the url. When I did that I noted that the blinking cursor moved into either the first or last image tag. That may be the reason why things got messed up before.
Bob
Ok, one last try today......this is a picture of an On3 EBT 2-8-2 #16 at the Kimberton, Pa narrow gauge module meet, last May.
