Hey there Charles!

Here are a few places to look, or look at:

PIKO-manufactures buildings that are "Large Scale",  you can see their line here":

http://piko.de/produkt_db/check.php?page=0&grand_id=5&parent_id=2&sss=6 (http://piko.de/produkt_db/check.php?page=0&grand_id=5&parent_id=2&sss=6)

choose "G Scale"

as does POLA (try a google search) and

Aristocraft: http://www.aristocraft.com/ (http://www.aristocraft.com/)

I hear great things about this company below and the prices are hard to beat!

Colorado Model: http://www.coloradomodel.com/ (http://www.coloradomodel.com/)

Most internet retailers offer at least some of the above, though forum policy doesn't allow me to post that here.

Here are a few other Large Scale Train forums if you are interested-tons of great information avail!

Largescale Central : http://www.largescalecentral.com/ (http://www.largescalecentral.com/)

Mylargescale: http://www.mylargescale.com/default.aspx (http://www.mylargescale.com/default.aspx)

and Garden Railways Magazine: http://grw.trains.com/ (http://grw.trains.com/)

all of those are free to use forums!

If you have a Rural King store, Orschlen Farm & Home Store, or a Tractor Supply Store, They have some great Items at a very low prices.

Most appear to be 1/32d scale but look great on my layout.  There is are several Farm Sets, both classic & modern.  They have an Amish set with the wagon, A Stage Coach Set. A Covered Wagon Set, A modern combine set with storage Solos, Hunting sets, A ranch set.  Not all stores have everything,  As an example, Rural King, has the stage coach set, the Amish Set and the Covered Wagon Set for only$5.99 each.  When I showed some of these to my GardenRRClub Members, They went rushing out shopping.  My personl favorite is the Farm Set The Building along is worth the price.

Lots of great items but suitable for indoor layouts. They could be used outside, but not sure how long they will last.

Considering that hail destroyed my son's expensive Pola & Aristo buildings, these are low cost expendable items, that you would not have to worry aboutand still look great
Will not be suitable for rivet counters ;D.

They are definitely a must see for those with indoor layouts!!!!

Enjoy your trains Charles

chaz354-

If you're not going for high-scale and you want something that's fun to do, inexpensive and kind of funky, head over to Michael's or some-such and check out their bird houses.  You can easily turn the round holes into doors, install windows if you want, add a porch, roof it, etc., to whatever extent you want.  Use inexpensive craft paints, sealed against the weather, of course, or spray paints from a home center.  The buildings can end up looking pleasantly quirky with large scale trains and you don't have to worry about being out a bundle if one gets damaged or walks away.  These will also be much smaller than true-to-scale buildings so it will be easier to find a place large enough to have a little settlement.  One thing, though: I doubt if these will work as well with a modern day railroad as with something a little old time, especially Gay Nineties or fin de siecle.

I'm looking at the building situation myself, and I'm about to place an order / evaluate kits from this outfit.

I've been reading some VERY good things about these kits!   :)

Those Colorado Models Building are great value for the buck, and are also great for modifying.   I have many of them I have modified to fit places on my layout.

Cheers!!
