All sound functions are preset when using DC. You have control of the sounds only when using DCC.

That will be unfortunate, if I cant turn off the sound. Hmmm

Why would you buy a sound-equipped loco and then turn off the sound?

Because I run them in multiple places, some in the kitchen and near the tv? And because sound gets old? Why would you wonder why people want to do normal things :)

Function 8 mutes the sound. Any DCC controller with at least 8 buttons will do the trick. An EZ-Command can be purchased at train shows and flea markets used for under $50 and it will suffice for toggling the sound when needed.
