Post by: jward on March 01, 2009, 09:22:42 PM
does anybody know who makes paint in the new haven reddish orange used on the "alpert" paint jobs of the 1960s? what is a match for the red/orange bachmann used on the new haven h16-44?

I got the color sample from the NYNHHTHS :D.
Floquil dropped that shade of orange a while back :'(. I have been using CN orange as the stand in.

Even between the car shops the shade of orange would be a bit different ???.

Having grown up along the NH I noticed one thing about the orange used. Depending on how long it had been out in the weather, the exact shade could vary drastically.

So I wouldn't get too hung up on matching an exact shade of orange unless you're modeling a loco just coming out of the paint shop. And even then the exact shade could vary with the particular lot of paint used.
