Title: Empire builder drive wheels fall off
Post by: hdchop on October 27, 2018, 12:40:24 AM
:The plastic or nylon coupler between the wheel halves cracked and let the wheels go out of sink. I can take it apart and put it back together but I don't know if you could ever find the parts.

Doesn't look good - all of the 4-8-4 driver parts show as "sold out" here. Might have to return the whole thing for a warranty replacement (if that's an option for you).

I am in same boat with an Overland 4 8 4.

Any aftermarket axles offered out there?

Still looking for some help on this.

Did Bachmann just leave us twisting in the wind?

There is a replacement axle and gear set for a Bachmann 4-8-4 available from Shapeways. Don't know if it appropriate for your loco, or anything about it's quality or ease of install.

Thanks will give these a try.

Bachmann completely let me down on a new old stock engine. Never used but fell apart in a few hours. Told because of out of production for so long warrantee not valid.

Would not bother me if the less than 20 dollar parts were available!

Update looks like I will have them by Monday.
Will update post when they arrive.
