Greg,

I'm glad you set the record straight. You are 100% correct. My father used to think that electricity was the work of the devil. Of course he was wrong, he just didn't understand it. When people don't understand something they make outrageous statements.  ;)

Mike,

I have replaced a few on our club layout. I used to get them at Radio Shack and the club still has 20 in reserve. Their P/N 275-016A

Here is a good deal on the same micro switch from an eBay seller. If I were you I'd grab them while they are available.  ;)

If you think a tender is just as cumbersome to take apart as the loco you are a half a bubble off of plumb!  ;)

Call it a SevenWheeler if it really has a new chassis?
\
I don't get it Fred. A 4-6-0 is a 10 wheeler. Why would you call a new version a 7 wheeler?

Because it is Version/Generation Seven.

Now you are just being silly!  ???

Smart guy that Greg! ;D

Personally, I'm not buying one no matter what it's called. I already have more than enough Bachmann ten wheelers!  ::)

so those are called rods or side rods.

You need different wheels and mechanisms, I have never seen someone make any out of metal, but it could be done.

If you want to buy them, you need to buy the entire chassis, there are several threads on this site about how to buy a replacement chassis.

Yes, it is more expensive for the entire chassis, but it will make a difference in the loco in many other ways.

Greg

Barry Olsen used to sell metal jointed side rods for the Bachmann 4-6-0. I have a couple of pairs on a couple of my engines. But alas, they are no longer available. :(

The rectifier is in the throttle control. You burn up the motors if you try AC power.  ;)
