I would like to see Bachman upscale the On30 2-6-0 to 120.3. This would be a loco that could run on everyone's layout, {run on R1 curves}. This would also be a nice engine to put into a starter set.
The big engins are nice,{Ihave a K27} but you need large curves to run them. A lot of the older layouts where built with R1 curves and a new smaller engine would be able to run on them, giving the co. a much larger market to sell to.
If not a new 2-6-0 reissue the Indie with a new boiler??
Your missing the boat with this one, someone is going to come out with a 120.3 2-6-0 and clean up.

Large / Gearing in K27, question for the Bachman
November 22, 2008, 10:32:11 AM
Dear Mr Bachman,

On another forum I have seen another post stateing that the K has the wrong gear ratios in the gear box.

My question is why did Bachman use a 14 to 1 ratio in the Kay instead instead of say a 29 to 1 ratio.

  Thanks, Chuck

Hi Bob,
Check aii the switckes in the tender to make sure they are set right,
Also check the connections with the wires comming from the engine to the tender and make sure they are not loose. My K would stop on a curve, one of the plugs was not tight. Hope this helps.

Large / Hey There Mr Bachman, a question for you
November 05, 2008, 02:17:41 PM
Dear Mr Bachman,

I have taken notice of the thread on the question of lubing the gears on the K 27. Is this loco really shipped with a dry gear box??  Can you tell me how to lube the gears and what is the recomended lube.

  Thanks, Chuck

Guy's.
I have a K got it at the ECLTS. I was told that it had the new counter weights, set up some track and have been running it at least  half an hour to an hour every week. To date no problems.
I am going to convert to battery power using Li ion batteries and RCS, also plan on putting in sound. The RCS plugs into the socket with no problem or changes required.
I have been running using a MRC 20 volt power pack pulling 10 b-man tank cars. This is a hefty engine and most likely could  pull twice what I'm running. I have not seen a singel post anywhere complaining about the electronics in the engine.
If you like the engine get one.
