Title: Cutting HO EZ track
Post by: Penn1974 on August 08, 2015, 12:59:34 PM
I have to cut some HO EZ track to match up to a Walthers bridge track. Is there a video or thread I can go to see or read how to do this? I already have the transitional track joiners to go from code 83 to code 100. What tools should I use?

After marking the cut, I use a 52TPI Zona saw on the plastic roadbed and a Xuron track cutting tool on the rails. Clean up the ends of the rails with a jewelers file if needed. The file, or a bit of fine sandpaper, will clean up the roadbed as well. You may have to use an X-Acto knife to clean off a "spike head", or two, for the transition rail joiners to slip on.

Some folks use a cut-off disk in a Dremel tool, but I find it hard to make a square cut with those. I also dislike the smell of hot plastic.
