Title: alaska gp40 shell removal

I got the McKinley explore set and like to put a dcc chip in. first how to remove the shell without tearing the bloody thing apart.

Dear Coastie,
Pop off the fuel tank cover to reveal the four screws that hold the shell.

Easier said then done Mr. Bachmann. The full tank seams to be glued or have tabs on the inside.

Tabs. That's why B'mann said "pop off the fuel tank." You have
to fiddle with it a bit.

I recall there are some tabs you have to depress slightly. Might be pressing slightly on the sides of the fuel tank.
One Bachmann diagrams showed the fuel tank separate from the bottom of the loco. You could clearly see four tabs that sort of lock the full tank in place and you could see four screws. Cannot find that diagram right now.
Unfortunately, some Bachmann diagrams are poorly done. I hope they will improve them and show the DC adapter also. Techs who do software are not cheap.
