Both routes are hot.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that locomotive was "DCC Ready."  I added DCC to one a few years ago and ended up bypassing the boards and hard wiring the decoder to the motor, lights, etc.

I just got back from the convention.  No new product announcements, but On30 continues to grow in popularity and the future looks very bright.

Interesting feature of the new Porters with sound.  They use a new technology that turns the entire cab into a "speaker."  No traditional speaker is used.  The overall detail and drive train is improved.

There was a great little Davenport 30" gauge 0-4-0 at the National Museum of Transportation.   Sort of like finding the holy grail of On30.

Sure will!  The Texas Outlaws will be setting up our modules in the convention center.

See you then.

Hello Bach Man,

Who will be on hand to represent Bachmann at the narrow gauge convention this year?

Thanks!

I have used Micro Engineering Code 70 rail with no problems at all.  I also solved the Forney problem of uncoupling during grade changes.  I cut a spare coupler knuckle in half and bonded the two parts to the top and bottom of the rear coupler's knuckle.  It may not look too prototypical but it works great on our club's modules.

The Indie always had two sand domes and a working front coupler.

Mine has been very dependable.  I converted it to DCC a few years ago and replaced the headlight bulb with an LED.  Never had any problems with the stock electrical pickup.

Your problem could have been from residual effects of the detergent.  I have had that happen in the past.  You might try 1500 grit wet sandpaper to see if you can level the surface enough to tray another clear coat.

Jack, are you describing the Lionel Polar Express?  The Bachmann large scale set came with a 4-6-0 without a horn.

Has anybody attempted to narrow the gauge to 32 mm (O scale) so that the engine can run on a track width closer to the prototype's two feet?

I run one with no problems at 6".

It is compatible to connect with and run trains with other EZ track pieces.  The track must be all auto-reversing if you want to retain that feature.

You can also run locomotives on the auto reversing track.   Porters and gas mechanicals with very short trains work well.
