Title: Couplers
Post by: SvFiat on June 25, 2008, 04:09:21 PM
I'd like to body mount the gear boxes to my passenger cars.

Is the a formula or rule of thumb for the position of the center of gear box pivot vs. the end of the car vs. the distance of the center of the truck to the end of the car vs. the radius of the track it's going to run on?

TIA

Depends on
   •  couplers used
   •  who and when the car was made

To get an idea, check info for your passenger cars in this Kadee webpage http://www.kadee.com/conv/ho.htm

JayBee (or something like that_ makes styrene coupler mounting blocks for various lines of cars.  You MUST get a Kadee coupler gauge.  It will check the coupler height and also the height of the mounting surface. Always use screws to mount couplers.  gj
