Title: Thomas does not move/humming noise on DCC system
Post by: Jeff0213 on October 15, 2012, 03:21:25 PM
I just purchased a Bachmann DCC train set with the digital command control system and when I set the controller to #10 to operate DC engines all I get from Thomas is a humming noise and it may move 1-3 inches before stopping.  My other DC engines, which are not from the Thomas series,  work fine.  If I hook up only the standard power pack, Thomas works fine.

I also tried connecting my DC power pack to the DCC controller per the instructions and Thomas still acts the same and my other DC engines work.

Does Thomas and other engines from the series work with the DCC system?  If I install DCC decoder in Thomas will he work?

Thanks.  Jeff

Thomas is not DCC compatible but installing a DCC chip in him would make him work.

thomas should work on dcc, but since the motor isn't very good you may burn it out running him that way. don't just let him sit and hum.

The sound Equiped thomas are not actually dcc they just have a board that reads dc voltage and created a chuffing sound. You may have fried your motor
