July 08, 2011, 03:36:04 PM
Thanks ACY & jward, that is very helpful info

is there a set you could recommend for purchasing that has 2 locos that are DCC equiped and ready to run out of the box that offers sound?  I am looking for the more modern style locos like the ones offered in the digital commander set

Thanks

Awesome, thanks for the information.

if i bought Digital Commander set the brought locos to a train store, they could add the sound to them? and the sound could than be controlled by the controller in the Digital Commander set?

Thanks again, the info is extremely helpful

so than your answer is yes, the digital commander set is ready to run DCC straight out of the box, no need for adding the chips or anything like that?

Do you know if the digital commander set has sound or that requires a different DCC chip?

Hate to ask all these questions but i am such a Novice when it comes to trains and there is so much information to digest that sometimes my brain is smoking and i just am not sure

thanks for the help

HO / DCC train sets
July 08, 2011, 01:15:59 PM
Does Bachmann offer a train set that already has the DCC chips built in to the locomotive and is ready to run using a DCC controler out of the box.

Example.  Is the Bachmann Trains Digital Commander Ready - To - Run DCC - Equipped Ho Train Set ready to run out of the box using a DCC controler?  I see that it says "ready-to-run DCC", but does that mean it is DCC ready and i have to add a chip to be fully DCC or do the locomotives already have the DCC chip in them and i can take them out of the box, program them to the DCC controler and i am off and running?

Please advise
Thank you

HO / changing couplers
May 04, 2011, 11:11:34 AM
how does one go about changing horn hook couplers to the standard couplers on most bachmann trains?  I just purchased a ENGINE SANTA FE GP-38 LOCOMOTIVE MODEL and it came with horn couplers

is this an easy change or should a seasoned professional work on this?

thanks

Thanks for that information, that is extremely helpful.  I guess its back to the train store for that piece of track.

didnt realize this would be so costly when i jumped in to this hobby.  but it is fun rewarding and fulfilling to see your creation come togeter

Doneldon,

I am a bit of a beginner here with trains as i have just entered the model rail road world.  when speaking of code and rail joiners amd adaptive rail joiners you have confused me a bit.  I am guessing though the code 83 and 100 is size of the track and joiners are exctly as they sound, connected 2 pieces of track together for a smooth run.

I am already using the E-Z track that came with the set i purchased and am guessing that by default it is code 100.

Thanks for the info, i will continue my research on train dialogue

To Len,
I am only using the bridge and not the trestles.  i have created a mountain range that i am using this bridge to span an opening and only need the track that will run across this bridge.  Is the E-Z track that i have now, with the black ballast already attached, ok to put across the bridge or should i be using a track without ballast already attached

thanks

HO / rails to use with a bridge
May 02, 2011, 05:06:33 PM
I am running track over a Trainline(R) Bridge & Trestle Set - Kit - HO-Scale and wanted to know if the regular E-Z track can be used going over this or is there another type of track i should be using to go over it.

The current track running across it is the track with the attached black ballast.

any tips or information on types of track to use over this type of bridge is appreciated.  or is the track i am using across this space the proper track to use.

my project is HO scale

Thanks in advance

HO / Re: E-Z track remote turnouts - wiring
December 14, 2010, 09:11:03 AM
Bach-mann

Thank you for that information.  My one question here is, the wires that came with the turnouts have connections already on them for easy connection.  Should i cut the wire and than connect them to the power pack? that is the red wire i would be running from the power pack to the remote switch, and the green wire from the remote switch to the turnout.

Thank you

HO / E-Z track remote turnouts - wiring
December 13, 2010, 08:47:01 PM
I am in serious need of help!!!!!  I am far from an electrical person, and am having issues with wiring remote turnouts.

I am using E-Z track from Bachmann with the provided remote turnouts.  I purchased the golden spike track set and the Hobby Track Pack.

I have set up an oval with turnouts connecting both sides of the oval so i have a big oval and a small oval.  My problem here is the wiring.  I have connected the remote turnout to the small provided switch with the 3 prongs coming out of the back of the switch plate and have done this for both remote turnouts.  I have connected the 2 turnouts together so they are paired and easy for switching when the time comes.

My problem here now is how do i connect the remote turnout switches so that they work properly?

Any help with pictures is greatly appreciated or a link to a website that has wiring for dummies is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
