Title: 4-8-4 Santa Fe Northern Shell
Post by: absnut on November 02, 2011, 07:57:48 PM
I have heard a rumor that the shell for the 4-8-4 Northern has been re-tooled and looks much nicer.  Is this, indeed, a fact or just a tantalizing rumor?

Dear abs,
The loco was redone a couple of years ago, and does, in fact, look great.
It runs great too!
Have fun!

Bach-man and others.

The 4-8-4 has been retooled again. The frame is different than the one shown on Spookshows page and the boiler is all new and much crisper/cleaner. The frame is basically the same except for slots milled into it for two additional screws to hold the boiler on in the rear and an additional notch in the frame on the top.

The boiler is still the same basic style (not round but u shaped) but the tooling is much crisper and doesn't look like it was leftover from the 70's finally.
