General Discussion / DCC Booster
April 25, 2008, 05:52:26 PM
I am getting to the point where I think a booster will be necessary for my layout. What do you fine train-folk think of the boosters offered by CVP? A 5A system for less than $100 sounds good. But will it work with my EZ Command?

Sure there is. EzTrack is no different than the track we've been using for years, it just has a built in base. As for the electrical wiring, you will need to gap the track at the terminus of the loop, have a separate power feed and a way to reverse the polarity. Google "wiring a reverse loop for dc" and you should get many options. As for specifics, I'll let someone with more experience on this board chime in.

I created an account on photobucket and then uploaded the pictures there. Then you can just link to them from this site!

I would imagine that your best option would be do the work yourself. You could hire a graphic artist to do the painting, but half the fun is doing it yourself.

Ok, this is the last one...I think. This video show the rolling stock which has now been weathered, and a new structure (Walthers Merchant's Row III). Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Ok SteamGene,

Modeling the Santa Fe line during the transition era. Locos are F units and a GP7.

Question: Would locos be less weathered than general rolling stock? I'm thinking yes, because they are serviced and washed. Am I correct?

I didn't post a picture of the weathered roof. I'll shoot a couple more photos that show the roof! Hold on, be right back...

The last two are natural light from a diffused window behind the layout. That is why they look to be a little bit more red than the first.

Thanks guys!

Well I'm still new at this but here is my take. The ground is pristine. Muck it up a bit. Maybe some oil spills. Chucks of coal here and there. An old rusted driver and some rods. Just my idea. Your work looks great!

The is the original Athern kit.

Here is is after about 5 washes and some sad attempts at adding rust.

Comments and suggestions always welcome!

I believe what is happening is that when you exceed 88 scale miles per hour the DCC flux capacitor is engaging. ;D
