Are specifications available for track. Especially length, curve start points, and such for crossovers.?

I have standard (no 4) remote turnouts.  I have not powered them yet.  When manually thrown to the curve position, the curved track section does not seat tightly against the straight track.  This is causing derails when the train approaches the turnout to go into the curve.  Is there a solution to this?
