Several years ago I purchased a Green Bay Packer collector train set from Hawthorne Village. It came with a Bachman HO EMD F7A Locomotive that in DC powered. Can anyone tell me if this locomotive is capable of being upgraded to DCC?
Yes it is, but you have to do the conversion. Two methods; first one is to hard wire a decoder. Second is buy a standard DCC Bachmann FTA unit and simple switch the trucks and the body. I did the latter and haven't regretted the decision! I converted two A units and Two B units to DCC. In consist they pull really well. Bear in mind, of course, that the Bunits of Hawthorne Village are dummys so you also need to repower them! Hope that helps, Stephen
