HO / Automatically running a train set (dual cab)
August 09, 2008, 01:18:12 PM
I was wondering if i can automatically run my train set which has 2 engines running at once but only 1 line, ive heard of something that stops another train when theres already 1 on the isolated power block, what is needed for this? is block detectors what does this? does my trains set haft to be dcc?
I am currently planning to make it the common rail system so i can individually control the engines with each power pack (i already know how this works.)

HO / The way to lay wires?
August 06, 2008, 07:07:57 PM
i currently am making a new ho model train layout and im soon gonna be wiring it, 1 problem it is currently sitting on 4 saw horses. i have a table i can move it to that is sturdy and level BUT i cannot drill holes through the gyprock adn the plastic table for wires. should i make grooves in the gyprock for the wires to lay or stick with the saw horses and have it go under it (4x8 sheep of gyprock.) any ideas? thanks.

May 27, 2008, 02:41:16 PM
i got done laying my ez-track layout and im thinking of building another but using conventional track w/o a base on it. after build my ex-track layout i have quite a bit of ez-track left, is there anyway to remove the base from it so i can use it with other track or should i jus not attempt it?

HO / multiple engines pulling 1 train?
May 11, 2008, 05:29:25 PM
how is it that you can have more than 1 engine pulling a train because in my experience each of my engines is slightly faster/slower?

I would like to know the best way to clean my track and engines wheels. I often have many dead spot on the track that i spend time trying to get rid of and would like to know if there is a better way. Currently i do this:

track - use a eraser and rub it over the track
wheels - 99% alchohol and a q - tip

I am pretty sure im cleaning the wheels right but the track im not sure, any help?

HO / Controlling blocks with a selector
May 09, 2008, 02:23:10 PM
I have a atlas layout book that also shows how to assign power to sertain block in my layout using a selector (DC) but it shows in the images 2 powers packs are needed but after reader it says nothing about the use of the 2nd power pack, it shows cab A pack connecting to the top left of the selector and then it shows cab B pack connecting with the same current to the bottom right hand corner of the selector. (also it has the common rail wire(s) connecting to each other then to the track)

can't you just use 1 power pack and connect it to both corners and i can sue my other power pack for another thing or is it nessesary? and what does it do?

April 19, 2008, 09:44:00 AM
I just noticed when I run a engine over and area a bit fast a can see small blue sparks by the wheels, i think they might be small dead spots, is this normal and can it be fixed?

HO / Problem while making #6 yard
March 20, 2008, 07:54:25 AM
I just bought some code 100 #6 turnouts (atlas) (1 left 2 right) to make a small yard on my layout but after laying the left turnout and 1 right at 1 3/4" spacing. the 2nd right hand turnout when i try to lay it doesnt seem to be 1 3/4 spacing i have to move it a bit to get 1 3/4 but its not straight.

General Discussion / Ez-Track Question
February 24, 2008, 07:52:46 PM
since there are no special lengthed ez-track pieces to fill in gaps that a layout might have, should i stretch the track out of the proper radius to make the track connect or should i just buy an atlas assorted track pack even though it has no base. also cause the #6 crossovers are 21.25" long so it makes an odd length to fill in with just 3' and 2.25' pieces.
