Title: Bachmann Light Mountain
Post by: uncbob on March 16, 2010, 08:40:36 AM
Run my own RR but have a display case for the prototypes

Loved the Southern greens
Based on how good the Bachmann's Spectrum Consolidation performed I bought a Light Mountain in Southern's green

It has been in my display case for over 10 years
I bought their heavy Mountain undecorated and run it on my RR in my mark--performs great

I recently tried running the Light Mountain ( Never ran it before)
It is very noisy especially at slow speeds--sounds almost like a grinding noise

I think I remember reading that they had some problems with the Light Mountains

Anybody have any info

The drive belt may of taken a set.

It may need cleaning, and very very light lubrication of the bearings and gears.

After cleaning, and very light lubrication with plastic compatible oil and grease, such as Bachmann's products, run the model for an extended period at slow to medium speeds, in both directions - this will take care of any set in the drive belt.
