Yes, you can run both types of EZ-track on the same system, and, you should be able to run 2 engines on the same track with 1 transformer.

  The SD70ACe is a really convincing beast.  I model steam, but I think lots of people with modern-era layouts would love to have a reasonably-priced SD70ACe.
