Title: Bachmann 4-8-4 Steam Loco Niagara New York Central HO Scale
Post by: HIDEOUT on January 06, 2020, 11:31:08 AM
I am having problems getting my Bachmann 4-8-4 HO scale loco to move at all. I no its getting power because the smoke unit is lit and has smoke coming out. I have cleaned the tracks really well and it still won't move. Could someone give me some ideas as to what it could be or ideas to try to fix it. NEW

Well first off, is it DC or DCC?

Is it new? Or just new to you?  And actually being 30 years old and stored that whole time?

Also when I first got it I tested it and it ran a little but stop that's one of the reasons I cleaned all my track very good.

Try turning the engine upside down and with a can of keyboard spray air really blow out all the spaces between the drivers.  I bet lots of woofies blow out.  Also you need to clean more than the wheels and the track, you need to clean all the wipers on the engine AND the tender.e

"tested and ran fine" quite often means used on somebodies layout for who knows how long.
