HO / Road crossings
March 19, 2012, 03:53:46 PM
I have all Bachman E-Z Track on my layout. I have several Bachman Crossing Gates where a road crosses a single track. I am looking for a double track crossing gate where a road crosses two close tracks. Bachman does not make a double. Any suggestions?

HO / Bachman track

I have an HO DCC system with about 250 ft of track. There are 5 4x8 tables in a "J" shape.  There is one outside loop and two separate inside loops only connected to the outside by turnouts. I have attempted to connect the two inside loops directly together. I added turnouts and when I went to connect the last piece of track, the system totally lost power (ie. shorted out). When I disconnected the track, the power came back on. It does not look or act like a reverse loop situation. Can anyone suggest a way to correct this problem.

HO / reversing loop

OK, since you guys were nice for my second post, I have a third question:

The 9" straight insulated piece from Bachman puzzles me. Do I still need the reversing loop module like I had with my Atlas track, or is the insulated piece adequate by itself?

With the Atlas track, I had soldered the ends of the reversing loop module to the sides of the track in the center of the piece and used insulated track connectors. It worked fine.

The Bachman piece has a thingy on the underside that seems like it may do the job all by itself.

Some advice, please.

HO / #5 turnouts
July 14, 2011, 03:30:19 PM
I'm almost afraid to ask another question after the responses to the previous one stirred up such anger, but I will:

I have some Bachman #5 turnouts. I have found that it is not possible to connect track to both the straight end and the turned out end. The plastic sides of the track (roadbed) are in the way. I suppose I could cut off a corner of one of the pieces, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary.

Any suggestions.

HO / Bachman track

I am currently replacing about 300 ft. of Atlas track and switches with Bachman Nickel Silver Easy Track. I loved the look of my layout and am trying to duplicate it. It has DCC power using a Prodigy Express Wireless system  I have several questions about the Bachman equipment:
1. The controllers for the #6 remote crossover turnouts do not seem to have a way to mount them to the side of the table. Any suggestions?
2. I have a reversing loop in my layout.  I have a reversing loop module but I need to install insulated track connectors. I have found it very difficult, if not impossible, to remove the connectors from the Bachman track. Any suggestions.
3. How do people handle road crossings? I have one of the Bachman crossing gates and it is fine for one track, but I have areas where the road crosses two parallel tracks. Any suggestions.

I have a large layout using Atlas track and a MRC Prodigy DCC system. I recently built another 4x8 table and have extended the Atlas track onto it. I have added a loop of Bachman EX Track that will cross the Atlas track in two places. I have already purchased and installed Bachman crossings. Now I need to supply power to the Bachman track using my existing DCC system. I purchased a DCC equiped Bachman trolley to run on the new track. I need to remove one of the track connectors from a piece of Bachman track and install Atlas terminal joiners and run the wire to the DCC power supply. My problem is that I cannot find a way to remove the connector from the Bachman EZ track. Is there a way to do this?
