N / Thank you Bachmann
January 24, 2015, 07:31:54 PM
Thanks you Bachmann for your great spectrum tenders and for selling them by themselves. I just got another one to fix up a steamer and I know many repair older and some newer steam with your tenders to greatly improve there running

N / plans for update n scale locomotives?
January 21, 2015, 08:22:00 PM
Bachmann is there any plans to update your 0-6-0. The newest version runs good but could us a update to your spectrum line. Add a spectrum all wheel contact tender and improve the cosmetic
appearance of it and I think you would have a hit. I have seen some really great kitbashes with this engine so it has great potential.

RGW  Bachmann steam owned spectrum (non spectrum 0-6-0)  2-8-0-  4-8-4 J-  4-8-2- 2-10-2-  2-6-6-2   and spectrum tenders added to kato mikes   ( all great)

N / parts availability for the new 2-8-4
December 25, 2014, 05:38:57 PM
Bachmann will the sound decoder in your new Berkshire 2-8-4 be available  as a separate part and if so can a person ( easily,no cutting and soldering)  replace the dual mode decoder in Bachmann's recent steam releases with this new decoder?

Thanks RGW

N / DCC & sound N&W J Question for bachmann
September 09, 2014, 12:34:26 PM
      Bachmann
1st )   With the planed release of your N scale 2-8-4 with sound could not this be added to your great running N scale  N&W J 4-8-4. Hopefully in a some months you can record the sound of the real thing running if you do not already have it.

2nd)   Could you sell the dual mode DD & sound decoder separately , to be added to already released engines. The J has a speaker hole already in the tender floor.

I have 2 Js and a 2-10-2 that run beautiful but need a dual mode decoder with sound .( I run DC )

it only improved.

Great engine Bachmann

Has anybody added a delta trailing truck to one of these engines?

N / N scale N&W J
October 25, 2013, 07:28:51 PM
Bachmann:   Now that the real N&W J will be restored to operation. Would this not be a good time for Bachmann to release they J with a dual mode decoder and SOUND.
I like mine very much, they run great, but sound and the ability to run DC that would be better.

Any other opinions?

N / Bachmann Why no upgraded 0-6-0?
May 10, 2013, 01:06:46 PM
Bachmann.       Your newest 0-6-0s run very well it has been mechanically upgraded over the years but not cosmetically . With new boiler, cylinder and a spectrum tender this would be a great switcher. It is already used in kit bash projects, but maybe it would sell like your 2-8-0 some improvements. Seems like all railroads had some 0-6-0s

The same could be said about the non J   4-8-4

N / Baldwin as 616

N / Kit bash 0-6-0
April 23, 2013, 03:54:09 PM
I picked up a Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 and decided to change it. I shortened a a old  Atlas IB 0-8-0 boiler and am mounting it on the 0-6-0 frame also took a spare spectrum
tender floor and put the Atlas tender shell on it .I will post some pictures when I get it done. Largest 0-6-0 I ever seen, since the boiler was only  shortened between the stack and 1st dome the fire box is huge, but too hard to fix now. This is a fun engine to work on and has a lot of kit bashing potential.

By the way the tender was from a  spectrum 2-8-0 and had a plastic floor that  seemed  to be glued to the the shell, had to be cut it off,but is all wheel pick up with
needle point contacts. I thought all spectrum's had metal floors.

General Discussion / N&W J 4-8-4
January 22, 2013, 01:18:38 PM
Just a crazy idea for Bachmann  .Help get #611 (class j 4-8-4) running again .Maybe you would  sell a lot more of N and HO J's.
Then even modern day layouts would have a excuse to run one.

By the way I love the N scale J,runs great and pull over 70 cars.

HO / HOn30
May 06, 2012, 10:51:28 PM
I have build some HOn30 locomotives one of these is a 2-8-0 using the mech from a N scale bachmann 2-8-0 and tender. The boiler is from a n scale Atlas 0-8-0 the tender shell and cab are from a old time Riv HO scale 2-4-0.I glued the HO tender shell over the Bachmann spectrum shell so I can disassemble it.Since Bachmann's sucess with On30 is there any plan at Bachmann for producing HOn30 because it runs on N scale track?

N / 4-8-4 J
March 24, 2012, 01:55:02 PM
The Bachmann   is there a replacment wire harness the connects 6 wires between the engine and tender for the 4-8-4 J maybe from some of the newer DCC engines, the varnish coated wire on the Js are very fragile and I need to replace them but would like a better wire to use. It is a lot of work solder new wires in those tiny and close connections.

I am going to custom paint the N&W J,But I would like to remove
the orange stripe on the side of the engine and tender but not remove the
black. Any ideas I have used commet and a toothpick, however i have never removed bachmann paint.

By the way a great locomtive ;D

N / replacment couplers?
December 19, 2011, 11:10:58 AM
I just received the new operating knuckle couplers they seem to work good.I tested it by replacing a broken micro trains coupler. Is bachmann going to have replacment couplers with the t end that use a spring to use in older bachmann, atlas .ect... trucks?
I have good rolling trucks but with rapido couplers that need replacing. The bachmann
are esay to replace and i don't have to worry about losing the super tiny mt springs.

thanks RGW
