General Discussion / building a burning building
January 30, 2014, 12:49:18 AM
I used cotton  little led flames you buy at the store, i used 4,   fiber optic  to give amber look and to hold cotton which in turn gave more color to look like the flames where higher.

ok   i hope this came out       what im showing is a powered tyco boxcar dcc with sound.
i used a FA powered unit from bachmann   and most boxcars do work for this.
why would i do this   on my smaller steams locos i like this to give more pulling power and less strain on the drivers of the steam.
this one unit i posted goes behind a sd-40 to have sound and give more power also          i have close to 6 boxcars done and about 8 old F7s done  so they can work just like the new stuff does.  not much work into them and very easy to build     DAve

HO / the new F7 sound units
June 17, 2013, 01:51:26 AM
ok   ive been working on my brand new f7 sounds .       i purchased a few of the b units  for the sound .   i went ahead and put the frist unit on the track  to hear what it sounds like.    the engine sound is great and start up is great .     now when i hit F2 no horn then f3 no horn    hummm   so i went for the bells f1    no bells .

went to soundtrax website    cv 129 for horn  i set to 200     now i got horns on f2 and f 3  ok
then went for the bells          cv 130  for bells i set to 64 like the a unit cv's       no bell or it wont take .

im going to be trading out the shells on my royal gorge  b unit  so i can have sounds on my ABA consist.
then changing one shell on my alaska passanger    so it can have sound also .  then i have the southern pacific to have sound    and the last one is up in the air which one gets it in frieght haulin .

has anybody had troubles getting the bells to work on b units yet   or am i the frist .     why did'nt they just have those sounds ready  to go.    nothing said in anything ive read that these sounds were shut off  or just my glasses need adjusting again lol .      fellow bachmann members need to take note that all sounds are not turned on these b units

well  i started to install some dcc turnouts on my layout .   i went into turnout/asc programming .       i get program to main  and service gets  you into cvs .  then the other ones assign on service   track,     but nothing to program on main to assign the switch a number ,  on my controller .     what i did   took every engine off the tracks or lighted cars.   undid my main service power hook up and changed it to the service track   so my layout is all service .       ok   i hit the mode button on switch   it clicks     then i hit program on service with a address of 001  /1  /1     i get error messeges    11   or 12 .   i tried all different ways but nothing to fix the trouble to get a dcc turnout to work with controller .       i searched the net   then read the paper it went with it ( set up on ez command nothing abount dynamis)    check Dynamis booklet    nothing in that booklet to a main track or servic track programming   check bachman s you tube and they hit the buttons to switch but nothing to program with dynamis .    what the heck am i doing wrong   i even took a long break and went back  researched nothing to help so im posting on here .           i wont be back on until tomarrow nite after work

I was looking at the JMRI  site  and they didnt show a bachmann interface  for there command station.   havent seen any port of the Dynamis  system itself to except any communication devices.  sure would love to run the trains this way on my laptop and do those CV changes  i do admit i have a hard time changing them  on certain things.

question  does JMRI products work with dynamis  or do i need to look at another type of system later on down the road?

I got mine when i was 8 years old    the maker of my frist  is called  Kusan-auburn, inc .  K series   2 rail system   4 striaghts and curves to make full circle .  the train was called the satelite .  had a up  alco F engine with speed adjustment on top with electrical hookup to send power to car behind  which was a blower that put a styrofoam ball to float in the air then powered out to nest car that was a search light that went around and around  when trained moved  then there was a radar dish on the next car that spun also ,  gondola with satelite loads with containers  then the UP caboose.  got it used for 10 bucks.  ran that thing to death  but still works busted some handrailings here and there and still have it.  this guy shows some of these trains they made and gives details abount them.

September 26, 2012, 03:47:28 AM
i have the SP 4-8-4  which broke a rod  and wheel sliped on gear wheel .   asking are they restocking this. its sold out  on your parts list   Chassis w/Drive Wheel Assy (GS4 4-8-4) (HO Scale).  i bought it at a local place that sells bachman products and havent found the reciept yet to have warranty work  and hate to do that since i added a sound decoder to the tender .  any ideas what to do   send it back for the warranty without tender .  i can just fix it myself if i had the part      hate for me to put that passager train on a side rail for to long or just go ahead and box it up till i can get a part    any ideas anyone

General Discussion / reciever with short wires
September 09, 2012, 05:07:55 PM
new to the group and tell alot of you thanks for the info i have read on some issues to help me out  and learn . :)
heres the questions .
#1   how long can a wire be extended and what size wire    5 conductor  or backmann could make a extension plug and play with how many you can add
#2   can i add more than just 4 recievers or is there a booster for recievers to have 8
#3 has anyone tried to use a transmitter reciever used in home theator systems for hidden componets .

i have the dynammis +pro + 5 amp booster   around 400 ft of main track running the out edges of three rooms  which  would make it around a 30ftx12 ft .  i run long trains with muliple units to pull  with 6 trains running at the same time   sometimes more with  steam locos . ive been doing this for 3 years now  time to solve some little issues .  i allso been studing the 5 amp booster thread   i allmost ready to add my second 5 amp booster and its not looking good from what i read   was thinking of running one on service and one on main when i build on my second level when i win the lottery
