from what i have heard it uses the existing freight wagon chassis, so same length.

this has been mentioned already, look at the topic "new caboose"
plenty of discussion there.

that caboose isnt offered anywhere else because it is a freelance lookalike, and nothing like a SRRL caboose. too short, too wide, wrong cupola, wrong window arrangement.
what a shame

mt blue already have a cupola that would probably fit and look more SRRL. my concern is the width of the caboose if it is on the existing chassis as it will be too wide. and doesnt look easy to narrow down.

yes it is a common problem.
never heard of an improved overhaul kit.

the existing on30 shay is a 2 cylinder. that loco is a 3 cylinder. it could be the G scale version. the wiseman conversions would be 2 cylinder as well.
