These are Athearn 72' Heavyweight passenger cars. You can run 72 footers. There is a lot of overhang but you can do it. The proof is in the video.
The outside is 18" radius, the inside is mostly 15" radius, and the middle is a mixture of 15" and 18". I do have ne 22" radius is there. So

I run Athearn 72' heavyweights on mine with 18 and 15 radius curves. There is a lot of overhang but they do run.

I thought the same thing about the Timesaver. There's nothing really unique about it. Who's to say that others didn't have the same type of set up long before John came along. It's just he published his and that is why it is attributed to him.

Here is that layout expanded by adding straights between opposite curves. I used full 9" straights but you can use shorter ones. Since the tracks come 4 to a card, you can use the extra two 9" and extra two 2 1/4" to add them anywhere I have added the  straights as long as they are on opposite sides.

The short pieces on top are a 2" and a 2 1/4" on each side of the curve. The 1 1/4" pieces are on the inside on top on each side of the curve

I forgot to include a terminal track in the set up. You can substitute a terminal track for one of the straights or curves.  44502 is the curved terminal track and 44510 is the straight terminal track.
You need the "fitter assortment" (44592) to get the 1 1/4" and 2" straights.

Here are twice around setups using E-Z Track that I did with Anyrail. I can give you the track list if any of these are what you are looking for. You can expand them in some areas using straights on opposites sides. Be advised though that sometimes Anyrail isn't always correct.

It has a solid basswood base. Then I cut pieces of wood to conform to the curve and beveled the inside edges. That way, I can slide a piece of track in.  I used my longest passenger car as a guide for side clearance before I cut them.
I used pieces of square strip wood underneath to correspond with the vertical braces.
On one side, I had to piece together two side pieces to make it long enough. They are just bridge sides from a kit.
I added strips of wood along the deck and butted the sides up against them.

It is motion activated. When my trolley goes by, it opens for a few seconds then closes until the trolley goes by again.
